Fred MAY was a Dow City visitor Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. Geo. COLBURN are visitors in Panama this week.
E. G. Duncan, of Dow City, was a Dunlap visitor the first of the week.
Scott McINTOSH has moved into the BAILY house east of the opera house.
C.E. HOEFIELD sale will be conducted by E.T. MALONE, Monday, December 5.
Mrs. B.H. CUTLER entertained a company of friends at her home Monday afternoon.
A.J. SMITH, of Pisgah, visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J.T. RAWLINGS Friday last.
Mrs. E.O. HOWLAND enjoyed a visit from her sister who resides at Des Moines, the past week.
Newt Roundy had the misfortune to have his eye put out while at work on his farm east of this city.
Mrs. Elizabeth MALONE returned home Sunday after visiting several weeks in southern Iowa.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry RETHLEFSEN, of Defiance, spent Sunday visiting at the home of Fred WETTENGEL.
Hans C.P. HANSEN, who has been in Portland, Oregon, the past few months, returned home Saturday evening.
The Degree of Pocahontas lodge will give a 25 cent supper in the store building east of the First National Bank, Saturday, November 12.
Miss Lucy JENNINGS, who is visiting at the M.L. JENNINGS home south of town, the past week, leaves for her home at Streator, Illinois early next week.
The supper served by the W.R.C. at the Knights of Pythias hall Tuesday evening was well patronized and proved a convenience to those who were interested in getting the election returns.
There will be a box social at the Kellogg school house Friday evening, November 18. Proceeds go to the Ladies Aid Society of the Lutheran church.
At the meeting of the city council Monday evening, E.B. ACTON was selected as councilman to fill out the unexpired term of J.R. WHEELER. John HULE was also appointed as Assessor for Dunlap on account of the removal of Joe DUGAN from the city.
Miss Lucy MILES closed a very successful term of school on Friday in Monona county and is spending the week visiting relatives and friends in Denison. Miss MILES will preside over the same school this winter.
PANAMA
Mrs. John Schomers arrived home from Odebolt Friday.
Misses Vera and Iva WHALEY and S. CRANDALL spent Sunday at the Tom DEMPREY home at Woodbine.
F.M. SMITH and daughter, Irene, and Mr. and Mrs. Will ADAMSON were in Omaha Monday.
D.L. SULLIVAN had 1200 sheep shipped in from Omaha, Wednesday.
The concrete gang, which has been working for the Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul railway here, departed Friday for Sioux City.
The friends of Anna SONTAG gave her a surprise party Thursday evening at the home of Nick GOESER, south of town.
D.L. SULLIVAN, and wife; Mrs. Nellie and Herbert SULLIVAN were Woodbine visitors Tuesday.
Miss Alice HANN returned to her home at Mapleton, Iowa, Saturday, after spending several days with relatives and friends here.

Ed MESSENHRING is confined to his home on account of sickness.
Bert ROUNDY, who has been visiting with relatives in this vicinity, left for his home in Nebraska Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Martin WILLIAMS, of Missouri Valley, are visiting with various relatives in this city and vicinity.
A children's party was greatly enjoyed Saturday afternoon at the home of Della WATERHOUSE. The occasion was a surprise on the little lady.
John SATTERLEE, of Gales Ferry, Connecticut, has been visiting the past week with his brother F.I. John is on his way to California to spend the winter.
A silverware shower was held in honor of Miss Minnie BRENNAN, whose marriage is one of the events of the near future, at her home Wednesday evening.
Mrs. J.W. KINSELL, of Spokane, Washington, arrived Tuesday to visit with her daughter, Mrs. E.L. MANCHESTER. She intends to make an extended visit.
The second division of the Ladies Aid Society of the M.E. church will give a bluejay supper in the Masonic Temple on Wednesday afternoon, November 30th. Everybody cordially invited. Price 25 cents.
PANAMA
Mrs. G.W. PUGSLEY is visiting in Ralston, Nebraska, for a few days.
Clarence ECKLEY left this week for Sioux City to work for a concrete company.
Eddie ADAMSON, and family, spent Sunday in town with Mr. and Mrs. Will ADAMSON.
A crowd gathered at the home of Jim WEATHERILL, in the country, one day last week, to witness a wrestling match between Joe CAREY and Leonard BENJAMIN. Leonard proved to be the champion.
Sewell CHAMBERLAIN, and daughter, Mrs. Henry POTTER, who have been visiting friends and relatives in Illinois, returned home Thursday afternoon.
Peter CROGHAN arrived home from Omaha Wednesday evening. He purchased 259 head of cattle while in the city.
