LOCAL NEWS
T.L. CRAFT left Thursday for a short visit in Chicago.
Mrs. Nellie MEFFERD, of Woodbine, visited with her parents here over Sunday.
Robt. MOORHEAD, arrived here this week, from Chicago, for a visit with his parents.
The DUNHAM road is blockaded by the replacing of the bridge that spans the Boyer.
J.A. MOORE left Thursday morning for Ames, where he will make his home in the future.
Miss Cora CHAMBERLAIN of Mt. Vernon is visiting at the home of G.E. CHAMBERLAIN.
Prof. SEELEY, and family, arrived home Wednesday evening from Western Nebraska.
Mr. and Mrs. Al. BURLING, of Missouri Valley, attended the funeral of their nephew here Wednesday.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis SIDEBURN lost their infant child this week. The burial took place at Dow City.
The M.E. Sunday school held their annual picnic Wednesday in Dunham's grove.. A good time is reported by all.
Frank JACKSON, and family, arrived here Wednesday from Julesburg, Colorado, after farming there the past year. He is looking for a home here, and says Iowa is good enough for him.
Mrs. Rosa MILLARD is having a new barn constructed on her farm which is occupied by her brother, John.
Mr. and Mrs. W.R. SPEECE will leave Saturday evening for an extended visit with relatives in Council Bluffs and points in Nebraska.
Ray GRACE and Lester ROBERTS returned home the fore part of the week after a sight seeing trip. They were at Omaha, Kansas City, Topeka, and St. Louis.
A recital will be held in the parlors of the M.E. Church next Monday evening, August 29. Mrs. Dr. WIGHT, formerly of this city, will have it in charge, and the proceeds will go to the Queen Esther Circle. Admission will be 15 and 25 cents.
A deal was closed this week whereby the COVER BROS. bought the livery barn recently purchased by Frank CASEY. Mr. CASEY will dispose of the stock and the COVER BROS. will use that barn for livery and the one they now occupy for feeding purposes.

M.C. DALLEY is enjoying a visit from his father from Woodbine.
Lulu ZEA of Denison is visiting with her sister, Mrs. Chas. NARAMORE.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed. BRADY, of Omaha, visited here with relatives the forepart of this week.
Frank PFLIEGER returned Wednesday from his sight seeing trip through Washington and Canada.
Mr. and Ms. W.H. VanSLYK left Monday evening for Manilla for a short visit with their son Frank and family.
Mrs. J.P. ELBERT, and daughter Lural, returned home the first of the week after a week's visit with relatives at Omaha.
H.A. COBB, Thos. LEHAN, LANDEE and F.B. ACTON were in Charter Oak attending the carnival. They were taken there in Dr. COBB'S auto.
W.H. DAVIS returned home Sunday morning after a sight seeing trip to Yakima Valley, Washington, and Cover Island, returning by the way of Canada.
