G.W. Gregg reached the 37th milepost of his earthly career last Saturday and in order that this anniversary of his birth might be more vividly impressed upon him, Mrs Gregg Friday evening put into execution one of the neatest surprises ever planned. When her husband returned home about 8:30 he found about 35 friends and neighbors had preceded him and taken possession of his home. Of course he made the best of it. The evening was delightfully spent in games, interspersed with vocal and instrumental music, recitations, etc., and about midnight a tempting luncheon was served, which consisted of ham sandwiches, olives, pickles and coffee, cake and ice cream. The guests were unanimous in their opinion that Mrs. Gregg is a delightful entertainer.

Sunday morning last, eleven cars of stock left the Dunlap yards over the Illinois Central for the Chicago markets, as follows: T. F. Jordan 3 cars, W. J. Evans 2 cars, J.J.Moorhead 4 cars, and D. C. Pherguson 2 cars, all cattle. The train was an extra and left Dunlap at 4 a.m. In care of the stock were T. F. Jordan, W. J. Evans, J.J.Moorhead, D. C. Pherguson, with Wm. Hayes and Wm. Fouts enrolled as assistants.
