Family Reunion
A very enjoyable family reunion was held on Christmas
day at the H.D. Welch home ten miles north east of Webster City.
Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Welch of Carthage, S.D., Mr. and Mrs. D. O.
Welch of Jewell, and H. D. Welch and family of Webster City,
together with H.D. Welch and family who reside on the old home
farm, composed the company. A sumptuous dinner was served and all
entered heartily into the joys common to such an occasion. Group
pictures of the merry company were taken by Mrs. H. H. Welch.
Thursday afternoon D. C. Welch and wife were accompanied home to
Jewell by Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Welch and daughter, Hazel, who are
on their way to Los Angeles, California, to spend the remainder
of the winter.
Randall, December 31, 1907
-John Pederson, who enlisted in the navy last spring is
now at home to stay. He was discharged on account of disabilities
received in service.

of losing his hogs. He has lost enough hogs to make soap for
Randall for a year.

he has been for a few days looking for a farm for rent.
-Christ Peterson and family are visiting friends around Randall
this week. They are now living in Minnesota.
-Lars Thompson, son of H. H. Thompson, is visiting at home and
with friends. Lars has been gone fourteen years, looks good and
is the same old Lars.
-Mr. and Mrs. John Peterson and daughter, of Irvington visited
Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Matson over Sunday.
-Charlie Sowers and Frank Dawson went to Chicago with stock last
Sunday.

to be about again.
Neighborhood Notes
-Levi Neese for the past year and a half teacher in the
grammar room in the schools at Stratford, and formerly teaching
in a school north of Jewell, has resigned his position.
-The piano offered by E. H. Martin of Webster City, to the person
writing the sentence Martin sells the old reliable
Kingsbury piano the most times on a post card was won by
Mrs. Sam McAdow, of Webster City. She wrote the sentence on the
card 1474 times. Several local people contested for the prize.
County Superintendent J. M. Holaday was quoted in the Freeman-Tribune
last Friday as saying there is not a school in Hamilton
county but that is supplied with a teacher or rather will be
within a few days. Scarcity of teachers is the report from
all parts of the state, but Supt. Holaday has shown himself
abundantly able to meet the demand in this county.
