The following is the program of the annual convention of the Webster township Sunday school association, to be held at Bell’s Mill and Homer, Sunday, July 30th, 1899:

The L.A.S. of the M.E. church will meet next Wednesday afternoon with Mrs. Alf. Kepler. A cordial invitation is extended to all, and the members are especially requested to be present as new officers are to be selected.

Mrs. W. A. Kelley and little daughter went to Radcliffe, Saturday evening after a two day’s visit with the Mail[?] family.

Ed Haney was kicked in the face by a horse while threshing for Ned Parker yesterday morning  and had to come to town and get the doctor to sew the gash up. The cut is just over his eye, and is quite painful.

The young ladies of the Epworth League will give a lawn social at the C. S. Brewer home tonight. Ice cream and cake will be served, and a handsome quilt will be given by vote to some person. Come out and enjoy yourself.

Ed McFarland, Ralph Brewer and George Jackson spent the first part of the week at Lake City. Ralph and George have secured positions on the Northwestern road, the former as fireman and George as brakeman. They will commence work in a few days.

The county is fairly swarming with agents, peddlers and fakirs. Farmers and all others should give them a wide berth and buy their goods of reliable home dealers. You can’t beat a sharper at his own game and the more you try it the oftener you will get taken in.

Friends at this place have received programs of a musicale given recently at Bloomington, Indiana, in which Miss Ethel Ferguson, formerly of this city, participated. Miss Ethel is taking special instruction at Bloomington, and is making splendid progress in her studies.

Ed Sogard, Irving Baumgardner, Alf Swanson, John E. Fardal, J. S. Williams, Fred R. Barkhurst, Louis Foster and Jess Stark spent Wednesday evening at the river, up near the old Tunnel mill. The lads had a good time, but got a little too noisy as boys sometimes will.

A number of local Woodmen went to Stratford Tuesday night to assist the lodge at that place in some special work. Those who went from here were W. L. Kepler, W. R. East, Gil Clabaugh, E. F. Fuller, L. K. Largent, Clarence Wilson, June Billington, V. C. Nickerson, Arnold Westberg, Walter Westberg, Arthur Maxon and William Goat. They had a big time.

Mrs. G. A. Near returned to her home in Boone Monday after a visit at the Lucas home, northwest of town.

Miss Stella Hamilton, of College View, Nebraska is visiting Mrs. C. S. Brewer and other relatives in this vicinity.

Mrs. and Mrs. A. R. Thompson of South Dakota are visiting with Mrs. Thompson’s parents, J. Lundquist and wife.

A.F. Swanson spent Tuesday afternoon in Stratford.

Will Gretten was up from Gilbert Station Wednesday.

Rev. J. W. Vandewalker, of Union, was in town Monday.

Dave Morris moved into the Henry Stemple house Monday.

Ben Millett drove to Jewell and back Wednesday evening.

E. H. Martin and wife of Webster City were in Town Thursday.

Miss Lizzie Moore arrived home Thursday afternoon from Panora.

L. J. Stark looked after business matters at the county seat Monday.

Miss Belle Evans of Stratford was the guest of friends in this city Sunday.

Reilly & Stark are having an addition built to the west end of their store room.

Mrs. L. K. Largent was an over Sunday visitor with relatives in Boone county.

Miss Clara Poe, of Webster City, was an over Sunday guest of Stanhope friends.

Mark Bishop, of Gilbert Station, was an over Sunday visitor with friends in this city.

Mrs. J. L. Foster and Miss Mary Martindale spent Sunday with friends at Radcliffe.

Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Brewer of Dayton were the guests of Stanhope relatives Sunday.

Mrs. Frank Kepler, who has been having a severe attack of measles, is reported much better.

Arnold Westberg came up from Des Moines last Friday for a two weeks’ visit with his parents.

A number of Stanhope young people held an enjoyable party at the Kepler hall Wednesday night.

Rev. A. J. Landers, county Sabbath school missionary, has been in this township for several days.

George Wiggins and Ingvald Frailand, of Story City, were Stanhope visitors Wednesday afternoon.

Misses Nellie Swanson and Jessie Hakes of Stratford were the guests of Mary Martindale Friday.

Jimmie Hanson spent a couple of days of the past week in Lake City where his father is working.

Rev. Jacoby, pastor of the Webster City Lutheran church and Mr. Simon Sogard were in town yesterday.

Mrs. Lizzie Jackson-Greenwood of Webster City is visiting at the home of her parents southeast of town.

Mesdames Peter Hove and G. E. Hamaker were Story City visitors Tuesday. They report good wheeling.
