CLEO KATHMAN
Cpl. Cleo Kathman, a former resident of Bayard and more
recently from Carpinteria, California, has been reported missing
in action in North Africa since Feb. 15. He brings Bayards
toll of missing or killed in this war to three. Stewart
Pennington and Gerald Grove were reported earlier.
Kathman was born in Bayard and attended the Bayard schools until
in his senior year in high school when he and his family moved to
California. He would have graduated with the Class of 1937 had he
stayed. He was active in glee club and took part in the school
operetta and was an outstanding student.
