Death of Charles M. Campbell
Saturday about noon occurred the sudden death of an old citizen
of this county, Charles M. Campbell, at the county hospital
where he had been for the past three or four years. His death
resulted from paralysis. He had several attacks of the like
nature in the years past, but about four years ago came an attack
which made him practically helpless. Mr. Campbell was
born in Indiana on May 19, 1832. He came to this county when a
young man in 1853 and has been a citizen of the county ever
since. He was a carpenter by trade and always worked at that
business. In 1860 occurred his marriage to Miss Pricilla
Hosier, sister to Mrs. Boblett. To them came two daughters, one
Frances dying in infancy, and the other Hattie, when a young
woman. His wife died in February 1895 and since that time Mr.
Campbell made his home in various places, working at his trade
until his paralytic attack rendered him unable to work. After the
death of his wife, he united with the Presbyterian church here.
He has living five brothers, A.M., George, Al, Wm., and Ed, and
one sister Mrs. Tyler. The burial took place Sunday morning in
the cemetery west of town, beside the wife who preceeded him many
years ago.
