Death of Miss Mary K. Gilbert
Monday morning, Miss Mary K. Gilbert died in Des Moines, of
inflammatory rheumatism, after a severe illness of several weeks,
during which time she suffered intensely. She was in a critical
condition from the very beginning of her trouble.
Miss Gilbert was born on the home place east of Panora January 9,
1866. She lived at the old home til the death of her father about
ten years ago. She graduated from Guthrie County High School in
the class of 1887. In 1895 she graduated from Kansas City College
of Pharmacy and in 1899 from the Kansas City hospital. Since this
latter date she has engaged in her chosen profession as a trained
nurse and it was while at her work in Des Moines that she became
ill. She went to Des Moines about a year ago. At the time of her
death she was an active member of the Forrest Avenue Baptist
church of Des Moines. The funeral services were held yesterday at
11 o'clock at the house. Rev. J.L. Brown preached the sermon. The
remains were buried in the east cemetery, where Hope Chapter 190
O.E.S. of which the deceased was a member, gave their ritualistic
funeral service.
