The Vedette takes pleasure in announcing the marriage of two of our best
young people. Mr. James Allen and Miss Lydia Knight. The marriage ceremony
took place at the home of a friend of the bride in Des Moines. Mr. and Mrs.
Allen will soon be at home in Panora. They are the recipients of numerous
well wishes from their friends.

The marriage licenses issue last week was John Thomas Johnson to Phillis
Wailes.

Died at the home of her mother Wednesday, September 18, Miss Hattie Grubbs
aged 24 years. The funeral services were held Thursday at Bethel church,
conducted by Rev. Burnham.

Tuesday afternoon the funeral of Mrs. James Harris was held at the
Presbyterian church in Panora. The services were conducted by Rev. Day. The
burial took place at the west cemetery. About four weeks ago Mrs. Harris
came from her home at Moville Iowa, for a visit with her sister, Mrs. P.H.
Lenon, of Guthrie Center. While there she was taken ill of typhoid fever
which caused her death after about three weeks illness. Mrs. Harris was a
daughter of W. K. and Maria Townsend. She was born in Oakland, Illinois,
August 27, 1848. In 1866 her parents came to Panora. Here her marriage with
Mr. W.J. Harris took place in 1870. After her marriage her home was for a
number of years in Missouri Valley and for the past four years at Moville.

Her full name was Florence Adelaide (Townsend) Harris, and was known as
"Flora". Her husband was William James Harris, known as "Jim". He was the
son of Judge Daniel M. Harris, the former owner/editor of the Guthrie
County Ledger newspaper.
