Died on Sunday night, April 21, 1878, Mrs. Cynthia Campbell, in
her 68th year. It is not known what her ailments were. She had
been weakly all her life and lately sick most of her days. She
had been a resident of Cass Township for nearly 25 years, having
settled here in 1853. In the following year her husband died, and
now she goes to join him in that promised heaven in which her
hopes were placed. She had been a member of the new school
Baptist Church for nearly 50 years and lived a Christian life
worthy of emulation. She leaves 8 grown children, all of whom but
two live in the vicinity. In her death the church loses an
exemplary Christian, the community a revered member of society,
and her children a ___fe (?) and wise counselor. Her demise is
much mourned in her neighborhood. A large concourse of citizens
followed her remains to her last resting place on this earth.
