Entered Into Rest
Mrs. Jennie S. Thatcher Howard, daughter of G. R. and M.A.
Thatcher, was born at Abingdon, Illinois, March 29, 1869 and died
at her home in Sidney September 3, 1935. She was united in
marriage to F. S. Howard September 10, 1886. To this union were
born two children, Gracie L. Howard Foster, who died July 26,
1918 and John Riley Howard, who died November 27, 1933. There
were four living grandchildren, Lucille Glasgow of Torrington,
Wyoming; Howard Foster of Columbus, Ohio; Millard Foster of
Glenwood; Neva Foster, Sidney. A grandson, Conrad Foster, died in
1922. She is survived also by her mother, Mrs. Martha Thatcher,
two brothers, Elmer and Charley, and one sister, Myrtle, all of
Sidney. When about six years of age she moved with her parents to
a farm southeast of Sidney. With the exception of two years
residence in Omaha, and attendance at a tailoring school at
Kansas City, she lived her life at Sidney. She traveled
extensively, visiting California, Canada, Old Mexico and the
southwest and eastern states. Mrs. Howard united with the
Christian church. She was a regular attendant of Mrs. Chappell's
bible class, from which she derived much peace and joy. Mrs.
Howard was a tireless worker, splendid neighbor, and will be
truly missed by a host of friends. Funeral services were held
Friday at the Presbyterian church in charge of Rev. Clark W.
Howard. Burial was in Sidney cemetery.
