Sixty-Third Anniversary
From the Omaha World-Herald we clip the following report
of the sixty-third wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. James K.
Chaney. The Chaneys have a number of relatives in this section,
Mr. Chaney being a brother of Mrs. H.C. Byars of this city:
Fremont, Nebr., Jan. 23.--"Mr. and Mrs. James K. Chaney, 330
West Third Street, Fremont, are today observing the sixty-third
anniversary of their marriage. Mr. Chaney is 84 and his wife 79
years of age. The couple were married at Hamburg, Iowa, January
23, l862. In 1877 they removed to a farm in Kansas and ten years
later engaged in the mercantile
business at Burr Oak, Kansas. In 1897 they came to Nebraska,
taking up their residence at Red Cloud where they lived until
1920, the date of their removal to Fremont. Mr. and Mrs. Chaney
are natives of Ohio...(torn passage)..Iowa when young.
To them.... four children living: Arthur, of Fort Collins,
Colorado; Edward of Superior, Nebraska; Mrs. Edward Callahan and
L.C. Chaney of Fremont. There are fifteen grandchildren and
fourteen great grandchildren. Mr. Chaney is a Free Mason, being
probably one of the oldest members in Nebraska. Mrs. Chaney is
likewise affiliated with the Eastern Star. Mrs. Chaney still does
her own housework."
