Ira Edgar Jackson
Ira Edgar Jackson, son of Mr. and Mr. J. W. Jackson, was born in
Hamilton county, Indiana, May 20, 1857, died at his home near
Amsterdam, MO on Sept. 3, 1922, age 65 years 3 months 14 days. In
1863 he moved with his parents to Fremont county and grew to
manhood on a farm in Lacy Grove. In the fall of 1878 he was
married to Frances Pierson who departed this life May 30, 1892.
To this union were born two sons and two daughters, Arthur of
Colome, S. D., Fred of San Bernardino, Calif., and Mrs. Mamie
Branstetter of Chicago. One daughter died in infancy. On July 3,
1897, he was again maried at Rock Port, Mo., to Mrs. Martha Rook
who survives him. To this union were born four children, John A.
of Tabor, James M. of Pleasanton, Kas., Oscar I., and Nancy A. at
home. For several years he has been troubled with chronic
bronchitis and heart trouble which brought on a stroke of
paralysis three weeks ago last Saturday, which resulted in his
death last Sunday at 10:30 a.m. He was a man highly respected, a
good neighbor, an industrious honest man, a good citizen. Funeral
services were held from the home of his sister, Mrs. A. A.
VanNess, Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock. The services were
conducted by Rev. R. R. Moser, pastor of the Methodist church.
Interment was made in the Sidney cemetery.
