John Padgett is through shucking his corn, finishing up Saturday.
His crop made about 75 bushels per acre.
Bain Connor, the well known farmer of southeast of town is badly
crippled up with an attack of rehumatism.
Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Cupp of Thurman visited last Sunday with their
daughter Mrs. Ed Hall -- Randolph Enterprise.
J.W. Van Sant returned to his home in Omaha the first week after
several days visit with I.H. Jared and family.
Uncle Abe Roberts is again under the care of Dr. Cole,
experencing a second attack of his old ailment, stomach trouble.
Miss Mary Sigler came down from Omaha recently, and is visiting
at the home of her brother, C.C. Sigler, near Bartlett.
Chas. Ohm , the McPaul Blacksmith who went on a journey to Sweden
two monts ago, for his health is again on duty at his shop,
arriving Saturday.
Mrs. Tina Huston, who has bee suffering from pheumonia fever for
several days is still very sick. Her fever has broken, but she
does not gain strength as her friends wish for.
Louis R. Moore, who has resided at Ranchester, Wyoming for the
past two years, came in last week for a visit with his parents,
Mr. and Mr. T.J. Moore, and may remain for the winter.
J.S. Pierce of Green Hollow is back from Omaha where he spent the
better part of a week on business. Mr. Pierce has marketed 600
bushels of apples and other produce in the metropolis this fall.
A telephone message Tuesday to friends from those in attendance
upon Sheriff Kent in the hospital at Omaha stated that he was
gaining slowly and had sat up in bed for a short time that
morning.
Dr. W. Edmonds, the expert oculist of Nebraska City, has arranged
to visit Thuman on Thurday's of each week. Office at Dr. Cole's
drug store.
Christensen & Holt, the painters and decorators who have been
at work on W.M. Paul's new residence and at the bank for some
weeks, finished their work returned to Council Bluffs, Saturday
morning.
The school board held a meeting Friday evening. Besides
transacting routine matters they engaged the services of Mrs.
M.C. Gaston as instructor in music. She will also have charge of
one of the high school classes.
