DIED
At his home in Sidney, Tuesday, Aug. 21st of Pneumonia fever,
Stacy Reeves, aged 68 years and 29 days. The funeral was held
from the Baptist church Wednesday conducted by Rev. Hall,
assisted by Rev. Uptegrove. The deceased was born in Meigs
county, Ohio, in 1826 at which place he was married to Miss
Elizabeth Howell, Dec. 31, 1844. They immigrated to Iowa and
settled in Fremont county in 1852 on a farm north of town where
they lived until three years ago when they moved to Sidney where
they have since resided. Mr. Reeves was a member and officer in
the Presbyterian church at Anderson. He was an earnest worker in
the church, an honest and uprighht citizen, was well known and
highly respected by everyone. He leaves a wife and six children,
Elizabeth Long of Shenandoah; W. H. Reeves of Atwood, Kansas;
Eli, Reuben and Ulysses of this county, and Mrs Rebecca Davis, of
Brownell, Kansas, all of whom were at this bedside except Wm. H.
who was visiting here and left for his home about two weeks ago.
His remains were buried in the Sidney cemetery followed by a
large concourse of relatives and friends.
