STUDY OF GERMAN ELIMINATED IN OELWEIN SCHOOLS, APR. 26.
The study of German in the Oelwein public schools will
end with "Liberty Day", Friday April 26. That is in
accordance with the request of State Supt. Deyo. Following that
date the class will study history of the war and its home
activities and possibly other subjects it had previously beed
decided that the study of German would end with the school year,
but in obedience to a patriotic sentiment that is quite general
in the state it was decided to write finish on Liberty Day. The
class is completing reading "William Tell", and that
famous story is not all in consonance with the autocracy of
German at this time.
