Local and Other Items
-We hear that Geo. Blunt lost seven head of cattle last week.
-Dick Arthur has been sent to the State Penitentiary for safe
keeping.
-Mr. H.D. Lowry, who has been sick for a short time, we are glad
to see again on the street.
-Lewis Segrist, of Postville, has been indicted for perjury, and
is now in the hands of the U.S. Marshal.
-A.C. McNitt has moved to Nora Springs, in Floyd county. We are
sorry to lose such good citizens as Mac.
-Dr. Zeigler's buggy collided with one of Canfield's stages on
Monday morning, when the doctor discovered there was snow enough
for a cutter.
Death
Mr. Z.T. Carr, an aged citizen of this town, suffered a paralytic
attack on Monday last, from which he has not recovered; and we
learn this morning that he his dead.
Annual Meeting
The annual meeting of the Fayette county Agricultural
Society will be held at the Court House in West Union on
Saturday, Jan. 14th, 1870 (sic), at 1 o'clock P.M. Election of
officers and other important business will be transacted.

Old Settlers' Meeting
The regular annual meeting of the Old Settlers of Fayette county
will be held at the United States House, in West Union, on
Saturday, Dec. 31st, 1870. Dinner will be provided for 50 cents
each. To be an Old Settler requires a residence in this county
since January 1st, 1854, of those who were eighteen years old at
that time; and old settlers' children who are eighteen years of
age now.
Dedicaton
The new Methodist Episcopal church, in Eldorado, will be opened
for divine service, and dedicated in the worship of Almighty God,
on Sabbath next. The services will be conducted by Rev. Wm.
Smith, of Fayette, and Rev. W.P. Watkins, of West Union.
