JOHN KOCH OBITUARY
John Koch was born in Chicago, Ill, on April 16, 1858, and died in his home at Estherville, Iowa, February 5, 1921, at the age of 62 years, nine months and twenty days.

Mr. Koch grew to manhood in his native state and was united in marriage to Miss Josephine Kindall of Bensonville, Ill., on September 22, 1881, and immediately came with his bride to make his home in Iowa. They established their home at Whittemore, Kossuth county, where they resided until about a year ago, when they moved to Estherville. To this union were born eleven children, two of whom died in infancy and the oldest son, George, died about two years ago in Milwaukee.

Mr. Koch is survived by his wife, three daughters, Carrie of Bozeman, Montana, Viola of Whittemore, and Mrs. William Weir of Whittemore; five sons, Frank of West Bend, Edward of Estherville, Walter of Mitchell, S.D., Arthur of Chicago and LeRoy the youngest of the family and who still remained with his parents at home. Besides these there are two sisters, one brother and several grandchildren.

Mr. Koch had not lived long in Estherville and was sick a great part of the time and had therefore not become generally known in the community, but was well and favorably known in Kossuth county where he has a host of friends who mourn deeply his loss.

Funeral services were held from the home on Monday afternoon, February 7th, Rev. J. W. LaGrone of the Methodist Episcopal church conducting the services. The body was taken to Whittemore for burial in the family lot beside his children, who had gone on before him.
