ACCIDENT SHOCK MADE HER INSANE
Mother Who Witnessed Killing of Her Child Dies In State Hospital –
Father’s Mind Said to Be Affected.

Missouri Valley, Ia., Jan. 24.—The death of Mrs. John McCain at the State Hospital for Insane at Clarinda yesterday, marks a chapter in a series of distressing incidents in the family history.  Mrs. McCain was formerly Miss Noble and with her sister, Mrs. Stewart, now of Seatonville, formerly lived in Missouri Valley.

About three months ago, on returning from a hunting trip, Mr. McCain was showing his gun to his 7-year-old son, when he accidentally pulled the trigger and the lad was killed before the eyes of both parents.  The shock caused Mrs. McCain’s mind to collapse.  And now it is said that Mr. McCain’s mind is affected.  The family now resides at Taintor, Mahaska county.

FORTUNE TELLER GAVE WOMAN WRONG DOPE.
Sioux Falls, S.D., Jan. 24.—A fortune teller proved wrong when telling Mrs. Grace Adams, a Day County woman, what had become of two valuable rings, which turned up missing.  Out of curiosity Mrs. Adams asked the fortune teller, who was giving public hearings to those who wished “information,” what had become of her rings.

The fortune teller told her they had been stolen and tied up in a handkerchief.  The name of the person was alleged to have stolen them was given.

Now Mrs. Adams has found the rings at a place where she mislaid them, and the name of an innocent person is cleared.
