HIGH COURT PONDERS MRS. JOHNSTONS APPEAL
Des Moines, Ia., Feb. 21(AP) The Iowa
supreme court took under consideration today the appeal of Mrs.
Pearl Johnston of Mount Ayr, Ia., sentenced to serve eight years
in Rockwell City womens reformatory for slaying her
husband.
Mrs. Johnston admitted shooting her husband, Herbert Johnston, an
automobile dealer, but claimed she fired in self defense. The
slaying occurred, June 7, 1934. Mrs. Johnston was convicted of
manslaughter.
