Mrs. Frank Carlson, formerly of Burlington, died Wednesday
evening at 7 o'clock in her home in Cumfry, Minn. according to
word received here. The funeral arrangements will be made later.
MRS. MELCHER DEAD. WIFE OF CHESTER MELCHER SUCCUMBS IN
MERCY HOSPITAL THIS AFTERNOON.
Mrs. Chester Melcher of 1201 Campbell avenue passed away this
afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Mercy hospital after an illness of
eleven weeks. She was born in Omaha, Neb., January 23, 1900 and
was 23 years old. Mrs. Melcher came to Burlington two years ago
and while her residence here was brief, she made a large number
of friends who will mourn her passing. While in Omaha she
attended the Baptist Church but on coming to Burlington she
attended the Congregations church. Besides her husband, she
leaves two daughters; her father E. A. Thornton of Valentine,
Neb., and four sisters, Mrs. A. B. Benson and Mrs. J. Makel of
Fremont, Neb., Mrs. William Murcopp of Grand Junction,
Colo., and Mrs. H. Johnson of Valentine, Neb. Funeral
arrangements will be made later.
