Allamakee County.—Wilcott & Conkey of Capoli on the Mississippi river one
mile below Lansing have put up a good warehouse, for which there is much
use. Considerable grain is sent there from all points in the county. Peter
Volontine has enlarged the steam sawmill at Capoli, and expended about three
thousand dollars on it. Timothy Syson has recently returned from Minnesota,
and reopened the Syson House. The bridge across Village Creek at its mouth
connecting Cupoli with Lansing is an important improvement. The Post Office
at Capoli has been removed to Lafayette, two miles below.
