Flora May, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A.P. York was born at the York homestead in Colfax Twp., Dallas County Iowa, December 5, 1882 and departed this life at her home in Redfield, Tuesday evening September 9, 1930. Flora, as she was known to all her friends, grew to womanhood on the old home place where she finished the rural school,.........a course in a business college and fitted herself to fill positions of responsibility and trust. On the 14th of February, 1905, she was married to Charles N. Martin of Redfield where they established and have maintained a home since. To this union were born two children: Harry Lowell of Waterloo and Delilah Vesta, who is at home and was faithful in the care of her mother. She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, Vesta, Harry and his wife; four brothers: Harlan, Charles, Walter, and Fred York; four sisters: Cora, Weltha, Adda and Hazel; two aunts and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist church Thursday afternoon at 2:30 with the Rev. John H. Nightengale officiating in the presence of one of the largest assemblies of relatives and friends that has occurred in Redfield. Burial was at the Wiscotta cemetery.
