Elmer Alonzo Van Cleave was born April 18, 1868 in Dallas County Iowa. Died at this home west of Adel July 11, 1920. Aged 52 years, 2 months, 23 days. He had been in failing health for the last four years, He was a member of the Panther Creek Baptist Church, which he joined in early life. He was a zealous worker and constant in his attendance at church service. He was a Deacon of his church which he had served for several years. His life was consecrated to his God and his family. He was married March 25, 1891 to Mary V. Hooks. To this union were born two daughters; Mrs. Martha A. Love and Mrs. Viola B. Brock; grandchildren Earl, Viola and LaVerne Love. He had four brothers, S.A., A.C., A.B., and A.W. Van Cleave, beside a host of other relatives and friends. The interment was at Panther Creek cemetery. The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. L.A. Lovelace of the Baptist Freedom Church of Panora.
