Obituary.
LUNEY - On Wednesday, August 8, 1887, at Denison, Iowa, Mrs.
Thomas LUNEY, aged 70 years.
The deceased was the wife of Mr. Thomas LUNEY, Sen. and the
mother of the Luney Bros., who conduct the mill and elevator at
Denison. Mrs. LUNEY was born June 3, 1817, in the county of
Antrim, Ireland. Her name before marriage was Mary SMYTHE and
Messrs. James and Samuel SMYTHE, of East Boyer, are her brothers.
She was married on June 23, 1843. The family came to America in
October 1850. She was the mother of seven children, four boys and
three girls, the boys, Samuel, James, William and Thomas and one
daughter, Mary, (Mrs. D. H. McWILLIAMS) are still living, and are
children to whom she could point with feelings of just pride. She
was a member of the Presbyterian church and a model Christian
woman. Her children bear testimony that she always met them with
a smile and their grief is of a deep character. She has but just
gone before to where the family hope to be again united. The
funeral services were conducted on Thursday afternoon by Ref. H.
HOSTETLER, of Vail.
