Tried to Hang His Doctor
When Dr. Birch called to see William Layton at Burlington the
patient became wildly insane and with superhuman strength
attempted to garrote the doctor with a clothesline. Three police
officers overpowered Layton and placed him in straps, and he was
sent to the Mount Pleasant asylum.
