DROWNED
A man by the name of Burns, who lived on Rock Creek,
about three miles from this place, was drowned on Tuesday night
last in the Wapsipinicon River, where the railroad bridge
crosses, under rather distressing circumstances. It appears that
Mr. Burns, in returning from the election, in crossing the
bridge, missed his footing and fell where the water was about
twelve feet deep. His hat was discovered in the vicinity on
Wednesday, which led to his discovery. A coroner's jury was
summoned by Justice Fegan, who returned a verdict of accidental
drowning.
