E. M. Wright Nominated for State Representative
Delegates from Clinton and Cedar met at Toronto, in this county
on the 8th inst., and nominated E. M. Wright, of Liberty
township, as Republican candidate for floating Representative.
Mr. Wright is the right sort of a man. He is one of the people.
Being a hard working farmer for a living gives him claims for
integrity and singleness of purpose that cannot be allowed
intriguing politicians whose only object is their individual
aggrandizement. There is no danger of such a man as Mr. Wright
trying to get the legislature to do anything the people would not
wish, or of winking at an attempt of others to do it. Those
present at the last Republican Convention held at DeWitt will see
the truth of this when they recollect how strongly he talked and
voted against a motion, which in his opinion, would give certain
delegates an undue chance to misrepresent the citizens of their
localities. Cedar will give him a handsome majority: let every
Republican vote in Clinton county be polled, and she will do the
same, thus making his election sure.
