SABULA TRIBUNE
The Sabula Tribune has been discontinued. We never
thought there would be business enough in Sabula to support a
paper; but Beecher relied on promises, honestly made, no doubt;
but, poor fellow, it was found that it would not be as profitable
to make them good, as had been undoubtedly calculated as the
Tribune was of necessity swamped. We are sympathetic with our
contemporary in his loss from his ill-starred location, for he is
a good smart fellow, deserving of better success.
The Tipton Advertiser announces that the “Great
Western” Railroad project (from Camanche to Iowa City via
Tipton) has failed. It urges something to be done towards
accepting the offer of the Chicago, Iowa & Nebraska Railroad
Company to construct a branch of their road through Tipton to
Iowa City. A sensible offer.
