ELMER W. INMAN
Elmer W. Inman was born May 22, 1853, at Baraboo, Wisconsin, and
passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Selden McKinney,
May 22, 1924, age 71 years. He was married to Nora Johnson at
Okoboji, Iowa, in 1883. She passed away March 3, 1889, at the age
of 27 years. Two children came to bless their union, Esten
Wellington (Will) of Spencer and Mrs. Selden McKinney of Arnolds
Park, Iowa.
Mr. Inman came with his parents to Dickinson county in 1869,
taking up a homestead south of Milford moving to, as it was then
called, Okoboji. He has made a success financially, and was a
large land owner at the time of his death. He was the oldest
fishermans guide on the Lake. He never would fish on
Sunday, although he was many times offered large sums of money to
take parties. He was a man who had many friends, having a
congenial spirit. Several years ago he united with the Friends
church. For the last two years he has been in failing health and
has spent his winters in Florida and during the last two weeks
has been confined to his room. The end came following an attack
of acute heart failure and dropsy.
He leaves to mourn his loss two children and four grandchildren
and Henry Miguel, a brother by adoption. Funeral services were
conducted by Mrs. Grace M. Elliott, formerly of Arnolds Park.
Music by Frank Elston, A. C. McKinney, Charles Gipner, and Wm.
Tormis, accompanist Mrs. Edward Horn of Arnolds Park. Interment
was made at the Arnolds Park cemetery.
