TWO MARCUS BOYS SEVERELY WOUNDED
Marcus News: On Monday afternoon Mr. and Mrs. M. C. Evans received a telegram from Washington, D.C., as follows:

“Deeply regret to inform you that it is officially reported that Private Lloyd F. Evans was severely wounded in action July 15. Department has no further information.—Mc Clain, the Adj. Gen.”

On Tuesday afternoon Mr. and Mrs. Philip Schmitt received a similar message from Washington stating that their son Phil had been severely wounded in action on July 15—the same day as Lloyd Evans. Both of these young men enlisted in Company K, at LeMars, over a year ago and were among those chosen from the LeMars company to go to France and reached there last winter. Lloyd and Phil have been together continuously since leaving Marcus. They were fighting together when wounded.
