SPILLVILLE [Winneshiek Co.] – Jean Frey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Frey, left Tuesday afternoon for Washington, D. C., where she accepted a civil service position. Jean is a graduate of Hamilton School of Commerce and was employed the past year by the Farm Assurance company in Mason City.

TITONKA [Kossuth Co.] – Edward Brandt spent a few days furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chris Brandt. He is stationed at Fort Riley, Kans., and returned there Friday.

OSAGE [Mitchell Co.] – Karen Johnson left Thursday for Biloxi, Miss., to visit Wendell Duncan, who is stationed in a camp there.

CLARION [Wright Co.] – Robert M. Williamson, who has been in Iceland since October, 1941, is visiting here with his family at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy M. Williamson. He is a petty officer, second class, with the United States marines.

POSTVILLE [Allamakee Co.] – Harlan Wegner, formerly employed by the Falb Motor company here and now in the army, has cabled his mother, Mrs. Louis Wegner, from London, England.

NORTHWOOD [Worth Co.] – Lieut. George Dwelle, son of Mrs. Lela Dwelle, arrived here Wednesday night with his bride, the former Miss Edith Qualheim of Denison. Lieut. and Mrs. Dwell will spend a few days here visiting his mother, sister and grandmother, Mrs. G. M. Emery. He received his commission recently to Quantico, Va.

POSTVILLE [Allamakee Co.] – Curtis Abernathy is here from Maxwell Field at Montgomery, Ala., for a 10-day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Abernathy.

WEST UNION [Fayette Co.] – Frank Medd, former employe (sic) of Central States Power and Light corporation and son of Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Medd, Fort Dodge, is now at Harvard university taking a 12 weeks course in electronics. He recently received the commission of ensign in the naval reserves.
