7 Leaving for Navy Training
Officer O.O. Cleveland, navy recruiting agent for this territory, announced Saturday that seven North Iowa boys were scheduled to leave Mason City Sunday for San Diego, Cal., to begin their preliminary period of instruction in the naval training school there. The youths are Harold E. Marker, Nora Springs; Alfred J. Schmidt, Mitchell; William G. Weber, Mason City; Robert G. Rourke, Charles City;William F. May, Stacyville; Donald W. Jenkins, Thompson, and William L. Coppin, Elma. They will join four other North Iowa boys, William H. Pierce, Clear Lake; Robert A. Martin, Manly; James R. Miller, Mason City and Walter E. White, Thompson, who left here Dec. 9 to enlist in the San Diego school.

Death Notices
-Anderson, Roberta, 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sidney F. Wilson, 1411 Delaware ave southeast, was fatally injured in an automobile accident Thursday evening. Funeral serivces Olivet M.E. Church, Monday at 2 o'clock. Burial will be at Elmwood cemetery.
-Norberg, Harvey Raymond, 32, died at a local hospital Thursday following an illness and operation. Funeral services St. James Lutheran church, Tuesday at 2o'clock.

Rites Held for Chris Hansen
Clear Lake, Jan 4 - Funeral services for Chris Hansen, were held Saturday afternoon at the Zion Lutheran church with the Rev. H.O. Urness, pastor, officiating. Music for the services was furnished by Mrs. Ole Ashland, Jr., and Mrs. Carl Ashland who sang a duet, accompanied by Miss Genevieve Hansen. Nephews of Mr. Hansen serving as pallbearers were Arnot Hansen, Algona; Sophus Hansen, Charles Hansen, C.L. Hansen, Herman Hansen, all of Clear Lake, and Clarence Hansen, Mason City. Burial was at Clear Lake cemetery. Out of town relatives who arrived Friday are Mr. and Mrs. Axel Hansen, Akron, Ohio and Cora Myre, Des Moines. A number of Mason City persons also attended.

Surviving Mr. Hansen are his wife, daughter, Helen, who is employed at Mason City, and a son, Axel Hansen, Akron, Ohio, and a grandson, Donald Hansen, Akron. His sister, Mrs. Dora Hansen and brother, Claus Hansen, both of Clear Lake, also survive him.

Kamin Funeral
Charles City, Jan. 4 - Funeral services for Lewis Kamin, 64, will be held Monday afternoon at the Grossman funeral home with the Rev. C.G. Prottengeler officiating. Mr. Kamin died yesterday following a heart attack at his home, 1213 Riverside drive. He retired from farming near Rudd a year ago and moved to Charles City. He is survived by his wife and two sons, Eldo of this city, and Heimuth, Rudd.

Immel Funeral
Charles City, Jan 4 - The Rev. C.G. Prottengeler will officiate at the funeral services Sunday for Hanry Immel, 73, at the Grossman funeral home and burial will be in New Hampton cemetery. Mr. Immel who had been ill a long time is survived by his wife, son, George, a daughter, Mrs. Reuben Witzel, two brothers, William and John Immel, Charles City, four sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Miller and Mrs. Ralph Phillips, Charles City, Mrs. Anna Hennings, Cedar Rapids and Mrs. William Ritter, Lincoln, Nebr.

Two Killed, Third Critically Injured in Coasting Mishap
Marquette, Jan 4 - Paul Scarff, 10 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Scarff, lay critically injured in a hospital here today, the victim of a coasting accident which cost the lives of two Marquette children. The dead were Edwin Zahn, 11, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Zahn, and Donald Clinton, 8, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Clinton.

Their merry coasting party turned into tragedy when their sleds crashed into an automobile driven by the Rev. H.F. Glock, pastor of the Marquette and McGregor Lutheran church. A coroner's jury declared the deaths accidental. It was brought out at the inquest that the Rev. Glock, driving uphill, had turned partly off the pavement to let the youngsters whizz past out of danger. Scarff suffered a fractured skull. The other youths died shortly after the accident. Zahn and Clinton were riding "double" on one sled down a long hill. Scarff, riding alone, was following close behind.

Iowa Manager of Townsend Old Age Plan Dies at Rochester
Des Moines, Jan 4 - Relatives received word here that C.C.Crowningshield, 54, Iowa state area manager of the Townsend old age pension plan, died yesterday afternoon at Rochester, Minn. Crowningshield had left Des Moines for the Mayo clinic onlyyesterday morning, relatives said. He suffered a heart attack and died shortly afterward. He cam here from Sioux City last May. His wife, a son, a daughter, and a sister survive. Funeral plans were not complete today.
