License to Marry Returned Unused by Emmetsburg Man
Emmetsburg, May 4 - Nine marriage licenses were issued and one
license issued in March was returned unused to clerk of courts,
E.M. Thompson, during April. They were as follows: Grant Leek, of
Esterville [sic] and Irma Webb, Spirit Lake; Harold W. Hill of
Ayrshire and Marion L. Ballou of Emmetsburg; L.S. Orsbourn and
Luella Cain, both of Rippey; Martin R. Duffy, West Bend and Mary
Elizabeth Martin, Emmetsburg; Bert Higgins and Mary Elizabeth
O'Brien both of Emmetsburg; Leonard Cameron and Gertrude
Jergensen, both of Goldfield; Joe M. Doyle, West Bend and Anna
McMahon, Graettinger; Louis T. Laughlin and Laura E. Joynt, both
of Emmetsburg, and Robert Stiles and Rachael Clayton, both of
Algona. Albert J. Leitl of Ottosen returned unused the marriage
license he had purchased to wed Anne Leist of the same place.

Emmetsburg High Will Graduate Class of 44; Grid Team Will
Be Hit
Emmetsburg, May 21 - The Emmetsburg high school will graduate a
class of 44 on June 4. The football team will be hardest hit when
the class graduates as they will lose Cretzmeyer, Skow and
Slater. Cretzmeyer and Slater are also prominent in basketball
and track. The list of graduates is as follows:

Ronald Chapman, Francis Cretzmeyer, Louise Damman, Rusel Egan,
Alice Eller, Bernice Enger, Dorothy Fordyce, Maurine Hansen,
Ethel High, Grace Jamieson, Irvin Joynt, Marie Kane, Wilma
Lawhorn, Merle McCarty, Joseph McEwan, Geneva McKinney, Mary
McNulty, Rose McQuon, Robert Maguire, June Miles, Kerber Odsborn,
Wilbur Orton, Mary Elizabeth Parks, Clifford Place, Nona Randa,
Bernice Reagan, Eva Reasoner, Jeanne Rutledge, Geraldine Salven,
Helen Sampson, Gle Sewel, Julius Skow, Jr., Clare Slater, Verona
