Whittemore Woman Dies While on Visit to Son Who Lives in
Mitchell
Whittemore, Jan. 13.- Rites for Mrs. John Koch took place here
Friday afternoon at the M. E. church. She died in Mitchell, S.D.,
where she had been visiting her son, Walter.
She was born March 10, 1861, at Isasca, Ill. She was married at
Bensenville, Ill., to John Koch in 1883. A few years later they
moved to Whittemore and this remained their home until about 12
years ago they moved to Estherville.
Eleven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Koch, eight surviving.
They are Frank, West Bend; Mrs. Carrie Freeburger, Omaha, Nebr.;
Edward, Humboldt; Arthur, Chicago, Ill.; Walter, Mitchell, S.
Dak.; Mrs. Agnes Weir, Emmetsburg; Mrs. Viola Newby, Manly; and
LeRoy, of Estherville. All were present at the funeral which was
held at the Whittemore Methodist church. Burial was made here
beside the husband.
FUNERAL SERVICES ARE HELD FOR DECORAH MAN - FATHER OF 9
CHILDREN
Decorah, Jan. 13.- Services for Erick V. Vick, who died suddenly
at his home six miles south of Decorah, were held here Tuesday.
Mr. Vick was born in Norway in 1860 and was nearly 70 years of
age. He came to the U. S. when 9 years old with his parents and
has lived the past 31 years on the farm where he died. He leaves
a widow, four daughters and five sons: Albert, Rochester, Minn.;
Harry, Mason City; Mrs. C. Halse and Elmer, Glenwood township;
Conrad, Charlotte; Elyin, Carolla; and Ileen at home.

Clarion, Jan. 13- G. Wiley Beveridge, a former resident of
Goldfield, and for several years past owner and publisher of the
Lacon, Ill., Journal, has won first place in Illinois
for the best weekly newspaper in the state.
