Chapin News (Franklin county)
-Lawrence Knesel the 9 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. H.C. Knesel
met with quite a serious accident Sunday forenoon. He in company
with several other boys were playing in the church that is being
built when he climbed up a ladder, just as he got to the top of
it, it overbalanced and the boy fell about ten feet through to
the basement. It is thought the skull is fractured. He is in
serious condition.
-Mrs. Al Allen and daughter, Veta, left Thursday for Searsbro for
a several weeks visit with her parents.
-Mrs. Chas. Kammrad returned home last week after a months visit
with relatives in Illinois.
-Ward Hamilton and little son of Mason City were callers in town
Friday evening.
-Mr. and Mrs. M.J. Godfrey and children left last week for a
visit with her sister at Lake Mills.
-Mrs. Chas. Wurthman is a patient in the Lutheran hospital in
Hampton.
Neighborhood Notes
-Dentist Fred Heiny arrived at the old homestead last week to
visit the home folks and join his wife and baby daughter in their
annual vacation.
-Mr. Lutz of Manson, Iowa came up by auto for a brief visit with
his son at Grafton Monday.
-Julia Laraway and friend and Chas. Laraway came up from Mason
City by rail last Sunday morning and returned by driving one of
the farm rigs.
-Mrs. Amelia Rowley and grandson Wesley, returned home to Elma,
Iowa after a few weeks visit at the Charles Rowley home.
Says She's Sane
Notice of appeal of Anna Gamber from the decision of the
commissioners on insanity, made July 6, ordering her committed to
the Cherokee state hospital for the insane, has been filed with
Clerk Blake of the district court. Her attorney is J.E. Williams.
Mrs. Gamber a few days ago commenced suit for divorce against her
husband, alleging desertion.
