Personal Points.
-Mat Weber, of Kniest township, made us a pleasant call on
Saturday.
-W.H. Munson and family started for Marengo, Ohio, this week, to
be gone a couple of weeks.
-Joe R. Willey, of Pleasant Valley, started for Wisconsin last
Tuesday, to be gone about two weeks.
-Go to Moore's for a good trunk, boots and shoes. Go to Moore's
for a valise or satchel.
-Breakfast bacon at Zimbleman & Piper's.
-Mr. and Mrs. Thomas, of Norris, N.Y. arrived in Carroll
yesterday, on a visit to their daughter, Mrs. E.H. Brooks.
-Mrs. George W. Bowen returned from her visit to Dakota Territory
on Thursday. She reports a pleasant visit.
-Messrs. A. and W. Trucks, of Glidden, dropped in to see the new Sentinel
office and left their names as subscribers.
-W.W. Knight, of Dedham, made a call on Tuesday, for the purpose
of placing his name on our list of subscribers.
-Wm. Becker, Geo. Heasling, Peter Okken, Herman Okken, and Henry
Okken of Grant township called on Saturday and subscribed for the
Sentinel.
-John Guthrie, son of P.M. Guthrie, is enjoying his vacation in
Carroll. He brought with him several athletic budges, as trophies
of his skill. He returned to Notre Dame, Ind., at the close of
his vacation.
-The little twelve-month-old son of Mr. and Mrs. F.W. Krause, of
Mt. Carmel, died last Sunday. The funeral took place on Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. Kruse have our sympathy.
County Correspondence - Interesting Gossip from the Towns
in the Vicinity of Carroll.
Arcadia - July 1st
-Rev. Father Fendrich has gone to Salein, Dakota, to pay his
brother Anton a visit.
-Mr. Joseph Bhener is back from New Mexico, and paid us a
pleasant visit, in company with his brother-in-law, Mr. J.
Kniest.
-Mr. E. Sievers has one of the finest new barns built in the
county. A fine large hay-fork is placed therein to convey hay to
any part of the barn.
-Mr. and Mrs. Julius Brunnier have a pair of the finest little
twin girls in the State of Iowa. Julius feels indeed proud over
them, and has a right to.
-Fike Schoonboom is erecting one of the finest farm residences in
Wheatland township. He has a fine location, and well knew what
was needed on it.
-Mrs. Dr. L.S. Stoll returned Monday from her extended visit to
Hardin county. She left her father better, but still confined to
his bed.
Sheridan - July 2nd
-Mr. Nick Kreis has completed a neat little dwelling.
-A mild type of scarlet fever is prevailing in the western part
of the township.
-Mr. T. McDonald returned from Kansas a short time ago, with
health not improved.
-Mr. Fred Manrer and family of Wilton, this State, who have been
visiting at the family of Rev. Joh Sessler, returned home
Tuesday.
Templeton - July 2nd
-B.H. Bengford, of Hillsdale, was in town last Tuesday.
-R.W. Anderson took a short trip to Dedham last Wednesday.
-Rev. B.A. Schulte returned from a trip to the eastern part of
the State last Friday.
-Mrs. George Umphrey has been sick for several days.
-We were mistaken in saying our friend R.L. Laughlin had
purchased his incubator, as it is entirely a production of his
own hand.
-Miss Lola Anderson, landlady of the Anderson House, has been
unable to attend to her duties for the last few days, on account
of illness.
