Items of Interest to Our Readers - Reminders of Ten, Twenty and
Thirty Years Ago.
Ten Years Ago.
-Miss Emma Miner, daughter of John and Rebecca Miner, was born
near Monroe, Wis., Jan. 13, 1862 and died in Greene Dec. 25,
1929, at the age of 66 years, 11 months, and 12 days.
-Wyatt Green and daughter, Edna, received word of the sudden
death of their daughter and sister, Mrs. Chas. Le Rue, which
occurred this morning at her home at Waterloo. Mrs. La Rue was

-Mrs. Allo Detra came up from Clarksville Tuesday for a visit in
the home of her son, Walter Detra and family.
-Mr. and Mrs. Jack Anderson and family, Independence, and his
sister, Mrs. J.H. Kennedy, Clear Lake, visited in the H.
Palmatier and J.N. Hildebrand homes from Sunday until Tuesday.
-Mr. and Mrs. Moller, Charles City, spent Monday here with Mr
.and Mrs. H. Palmatier.
-Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Salsbury, Budoin, Montana, came to visit
his brother, Fred Salsbury and family. They have gone to Elkhart,
Ind., to visit the latter's sister and will stop on the return
trip.
Twenty Years Ago.
-Jessie B. Warren Hurd was born at Durand, Ill, Sept. 17, 1861
and died at her home in Greene Dec. 27, 1918, at 7 a.m. at the
age of 57 years, 3 months, and 10 days.
-Michael McEniry was born at Milford, County Cork, Ireland, 65
years ago and died of heart failure at his home in Greene Dec.
25, 1919.
-On Dec. 26, 1919, at 3 p.m. at the Vilmar church, Rev. Wettner
officiating, occurred the marriage of Norbert Hildebrand to Miss
Frieda Schrage. The couple was attended by Elbert H. Hildebrand
and Mary B. Schrage, brother and sister.
-Miss Pearl Johnson spent the latter part of the week at the Lon
Woodward home in Waterloo.
-Mr. and Mrs. Carl Sanford and little son of Des Moines have been
visitors in the Ingalls home for several days. They will return
to Des Moines tomorrow.
-Louis Ramker arrived in Greene Saturday, having recently
returned from England with a large number of soldiers.
Thirty Years Ago.
-Mrs. Henry Kuhn returned Saturday after a visit in Charles City
with her parents, Mr .and Mrs. John Binger.
-Miss Florence West of Fredricksburg arrived Saturday and has
accepted a position in F.W. Boller and Sons store.
-Miss Luella Walroth of Bombont, Texas, was the guest of Mrs. J.
Temple Saturday.
-Miss Daisy Burkholder went to Waterloo Sunday after a visit with
Miss Myrtle Mabee.
-Jean Sours returned to her home in Marble Rock Saturday after a
visit with Jane Preston.
-Milton Van Buskirk returned on Sunday after a visit with his
sister, Mrs. J.C. Kofoed in Parkersburg.
-Mrs. V.A. Young returned to her home in Charles City Saturday
after a visit with her parents, E.A. Curtis and wife.
-Mrs. Mary Patterson and Katherine Shea came up from Clarksville
Thursday, for a visit at the W.E. Patterson home.
