The railway commission's report makes some interesting
compilations as to the wages of different classes of employes.
The average daily compensation of different kinds of employes is
as follows: General officers, $5.94; other officers, $4.64;
general office clerks, $2; station agents, $1.79; other station
men, $1.55; engine men, $3.81; firemen, $2.20; conductors, $3.56;
other trainmen, $2.01; machinists, $2.22; carpenters, $2.08;
other shopmen, $1.75; section foremen, $1.73; other trackmen,
$1.17; switchmen, flagmen and watchmen,
$2.25; telegraph operators and dispatchers, $1.97; all other
employes and laborers, $2.02.
Denounce Irish Mimicry
The principal report of the Ancient Order of Hibernians in
session at St. Louis was that of the committee on resolutions,
which reported in favor of a national home for members of the
order and denounced the caricaturing of the Irish race upon the
stage and in the funny sections of the newspapers.

Billy Green and wife enjoyed a visit Sunday from his father and
mother, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Green of Clarksville, Mr. and Mrs.
Allen Fitch of St. Paul, Mr. and Mrs. Lou Fisk of Dubuque and
Mrs. Will Brandom and son Jerry of Spirit Lake. The ladies
mentioned are sisters of Mr. Green and have been visiting at the
old home in Clarksville. It was quite a family reunion.
