Overmire - Bjorklund
The marriage of Miss Ruth E. Overmire and Mr. Carence
Bjorklund took place on Thursday, April 14th, at Mallard. The
bride, who resides near Havelock is favorably known by a large
host of friends, while the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Adolph Bjorklund, who resides east of Albert City. They were
attended by Mr. Ted M. Ridenour, a cousin of the bride and by
Miss Nora Abens, a friend of the bride. The bride was attired in
a gown of tan while the groom wore a suit of navy blue serge.
After the ceremony the couple journey (sic) to the home of the
bride's parents, where a wedding dinner was enjoyed. After a
short visit with relatives and friends, they will be at home to
their many friends.
Attend Meeting at Linn Grove
Mrs. Hubert Johnson, Mrs. Clifford Johnson, Mrs. Ben
Bryson and Mrs. B.B. Bridge attended the meeting of the County
Federation of Women's Clubs at Linn Grove last Thursday. Mrs.
Hubert Johnson was elected Vice Chairman of the County Federation
and was selected as a delegate to the State Convention to be held
at Davenport.

Mrs. Theo Ringbloom received a severe injury to one of
her shins by stepping on a shovel, which flew up and struck her.
It will take a long time for the lesion to heal.
W.T. Fitzgerald of Varina spent a few hours visiting with C.T.
Haas on Tuesday.
A number of friends and relatives called at the home of Mrs. Gust
Olin Monday afternoon to wish her many happy returns of her
birthday.
Pete Eckman, Axel Benna and Oscar Larson returned home on Tuesday
from Chicago, Ill., where they had accompanied several carloads
of stock shipped to the Chicago market on last Saturday by the
local shipping associations.
Gustaf Johnson, who makes his home with his daughter, Mrs. C.J.
Benna, has been seriously ill during the past week, but latest
reports are that he his getting along nicely, which will be
pleasing news to his host of friends.
Anton, Pete and Cisco Johnson tried their luck at Pickerel Lake
one day this week and report the fishing good, bringing home a
good catch. Of course Anton landed the most fish as he is an old
fisherman and seems to know just how to coax the bullheads his
way.
Mrs. Fred Bernard is ill with the measles.
Mrs. Gust L. Johnson of the City Cafe has been ill the past week
with a bad cold.
Oscar Anderson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Anderson underwent an
operation for appendicitis at the Fort Dodge hospital on Friday
of last week. He is getting along nicely.
Mrs. Arthur Johnson, nee Mable Johnson, was pleasantly
entertained at her home on Sunday when a number of friends and
relatives called on her and assisted her in celebrating her
birthday.
Marjory Turnquist, 18 months-old daughter of Gust Turnquist, is
ill with Bronchial pneumonia following the measles.
Earl Marks, residing 8 miles west to town must have dropped
asleep while on his way home last Sunday night, when his car ran
off the road and struck a telephone post with the corner of his
car. He cut a gash in his forehead near the hair, knocked out a
front tooth and lacerated his lips and bruised his right elbow.
N.J. Clay and son, Wendell, father and brother of Mrs. Wm. Efner,
drove over from Pearson, Tuesday evening and called at the Wm.
Efner home.
On Wednesday afternoon, Mrs. John Alpers tripped over a piece of
board and struck her side on a portion of the corn sheller doing
considerable injury to the floating ribs of the left side. Mrs.
Ernest Alpers, a graduate nurse is caring for her.
