Celebrated Golden Wedding Wednesday December 9th, 1914
On Wednesday the 9th, of December, Mr. and Mrs. A.M. Monson had
passed the half century mark in the journey of life as man and
wife. A way back in 1864 on that date they celebrated their
wedding day in Sweden, they have been spared to celebrate another
wedding but not with that high spirit of youth and with the
strength of physique that they once possesed, but never-the-less
with a happy satisfaction that the life that they have lived has
not been in vain and that they have done their share towards the
upbuilding of a pleasanter and better community, having been
residents here since in August 1871 and have seen the hardships
that have been a stumbling block to many that have given up in
vain and sought homes in other parts of the country now not near
as valuable as this. Invitations were issued to about
seventy-five friends and relatives who gathered at the parlors of
the Lutheran church to help them celebrate the occasion. Many
valuable presents were given them to help them commemorate the
event. Mr. Monson has been an invalid for practically fifteen
years and has therefore been unable to leave the house. They have
two children, both living here, Mrs. G. F. Anderson and C.R.
Monson.
