The body of Valentine Heinen, who has been missing from his home
at Gilbertville since March 6, and whose disappearance was fully
related in these collumns at the time, has been found. The search
for the missing man has never abated since his mysterious absence
was first made known. A son, Nick, was looking along the river
Wednesday morning for some trace of his father, when his
attention was drawn to a spot in the middle of the river a half
mile west of Gilbertville. Investigation revealed a heap of
clothing and closer examination showed it to be the body of a
man. It was taken from the sand bar on which it had lodged and
placed on the riverbank, and neighbors were summoned. The remains
were identified as Valentine Heinen. The body was found about 80
rods west of the Youngblut farm which is a half mile beyond the
Heinen premises. Any thought of foul play has been dispelled as
$65.15 was found on the body

The body of Valentine Heinen, who had wandered away from his home
at Gilbertville March 6, was found in the Cedar River about a
mile below the town Wednesday. The verdict of accidental drowning
returned by the coroner's jury, allayed all suspicion of murder.
The funeral was held Thursday and the remains were laid to rest
beside his wife who passed away about two weeks ago. The deceased
was a brother of Mrs. Jacob Pint of Perry Township.
