REMEMBERS FIREMEN.
Manchester, Ia. – (Special) – D. J. Meggenberg, who suffered a $60,000 fire loss here over a year ago when his three-story department store and contents were leveled to the ground, has presented the Manchester fire department with a $50 check as an expression of his appreciation.

Capt. Jack Fuller of Cedar Falls Is Killed in Belguim
Cedar Falls—Capt. Jack Fuller, 25-year-old son of Prof. and Mrs. F.E. Fuller, 821 West 17th street, was killed in action Dec. 23 at Bastogne, Belgium, according to a telegram received Sunday by his parents from the War Department.
He was a member of the engineering division of the 101st battery of the field artillery, glider group, and took part in the Normandy invasion.
Captain Fuller enlisted in January, 1942, and received basic training at Fort Bragg, N.C.
He was born Aug. 19, 1919. He was a graduate of the Campus school at Iowa State Teachers college and was graduated from Iowa State college at Ames in August, 1941, with a degree of bachelor of science in engineering. At Iowa State he was a member of Delta Upsilon fraternity, editor of the Bomb, year book, in his senior year, was in the ROTC, and was a member of Scabbard and Blade.
Captain Fuller was a member of the Iowa State college band and also of the Cedar Falls band.
The week after he was graduated from ISC, he took a position with the Aluminum Co. of America at Cleveland, O., as inspector in the engineering department and remained with the company until six months before his enlistment.
His father is a member of the extension department at Iowa State Teachers college. A brother, Capt. Murray Fuller, is with the engineers in France.
BANKS BROTHERS ARE CEDAR FALLS VISITORS.

Cedar Falls—Herbert Banks, and Robert Banks of the navy are visiting in the home of their brother, Oliver Banks, 216 Walnut street, and will return Tuesday to the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert S. Banks, Sr., Paullina.
Herbert has been at Pearl Harbor for the last 30 months and Robert has been in the South Pacific for the last two years. This is their first visit home in that time.
Another brother, Pvt. Walter Banks, who visited here some months ago, is now in a hospital in England.

Cedar Falls—(Special)—Births reported by Sartori Memorial hospital include a son Saturday to Mr. and Mrs. Petersen, Dike; a daughter Saturday to Mr. and Mrs. Morris Riter, 1322 Washington street; a girl Sunday to Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Harden, Route 3; girls Monday to Mr. and Mrs. Harold Saunders, 1027 West Tenth street, and Mr. and Mrs. W. Parker, Dike.
LLOYD L. TILLER IS MISSING IN GERMANY.

Cedar Falls—Pfc. Lloyd L. Tiller was reported missing in action Dec. 21, 19 in Germany in a telegram received by his wife, residing on Iowa street in Cedar Falls.
He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Tiller, 524 West Fourth street in Cedar Falls.
Private Tiller entered the service from Waterloo in March, 1943, and received his training at Fort Jackson, S.C., and Camp Atterbury, Ind.
He arrived in England in November, 1944. He has a brother, Cpl. Joseph R. Tiller, serving in England.
