DEATHS - MRS. MINNE CORNWELL
Mrs. Minnie Cornwell, 59, residents of Waterloo for 24
years, died from a stroke of apoplexy at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday at
her home, 142 Dearborn avenue. The fatal illness was induced by
an attack of influenza contracted Monday.
Minnie DeLair was born Feb. 12, 1873, in Ogle county, Illinois.
When 2 years old, she moved with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John
DeLair, to Iowa.
She was married to Jess Gilson Aug. 8, 1889, at Hazleton, Ia.,
where for a number of years she made her home. To this union two
sons were born, Harry Gilson, 407 Dearborn avenue, and Osa
Gilson, 147 Dearborn avenue. Both sons survive. Later Mr. and
Mrs. Gilson divorced.
She again was married to L. R. Cornwell, in August 1917, at
Marshalltown. She later was divorced.
Surviving besides her sons are two brothers, George and William
DeLair, Sixteenth and River streets, and a sister, Mrs. Maude
Hillman, Hazleton.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p. m. Thursday at the
OKeefe & Towne Chapel. Rev. J. S. Lilley, pastor of
Linden Methodist Episcopal church will officiate. Burial will be
in Hazleton.
