Miss Emma Alden, the newly elected mayor of Wyoming, Iowa, is a
direct descendant of John Alden, the Mayflower Puritan made
famous by Longfellow's poem.
J.E. Ver Ploeg, a farmer who lives one mile north of Pella,
Marion county, had 10 hives of bees a year ago, which yielded him
$75 pounds of honey during the year.
Miss Frances Zuill, supervisor of home economics in the Baltimore
public schools, has resigned to accept a position with the
University of Iowa at a $5,000 a year salary.
Rev. Roscoe Sires of the Methodist Episcopal church at McGregor,
has introduced the drama as an agent of church work. "The
Uncrowned King," a religious play taken from the life of
Moses.
