Page 3 had a short report on the recent celebration of Thanksgiving Day in Exira. The Exira businesses had been open for business in the morning of the day but had closed at noon in honor of the day and to enjoy the usual dinner of turkey and all the trimmings.

Chicken pox is having a run through the community now, as well as a few cases of whooping cough.

Page 3 reported on a surprise farewell party at the Brayton Hall for a local family that was moving permanently from Brayton to Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Page 4 has an ad signed by Ralph JUHL advertising a masquerade ball in the Bendixen Hall on Christmas Night which concludes "Come prepared for the time of your lives".

A fine Christmas Tree has already been purchased for use on Tuesday evening, December 24th at the church. Besides distribution of presents, a fine program is being prepared for the occasion. Let everyone be present and assist in making this the most pleasant Christmas Eve entertainment of the many that have preceded it.

Dr. KOOB has purchased a fine automobile and is learning to guide the 'critter' quite rapidly......is saving on horse flesh now that he can make a hurry call in his 'Ford Runabout Model S'.

Oakfield Township column.
The Literary at School number 8 is a grand success. Although the attendance has not been very great as yet, it is sure to increase when the public once realizes what is going on. The next meeting will be held January 1st. The question for debate is: Resolved, that the great amount of novel reading at the present day is an evil. Affirmative speakers, ESBECK and GREGERSEN; Negative, JENSEN and HANSEN.
