Horse sales:
--J. C. HARDMAN sold a fine team of two year old colts to Lauren LAURENSEN and Christian HANSEN last Saturday, receiving $200 for them.
--Jens JUHL sold his big team of horses to the horse buyer on Monday and received $250 for them. It pays these times to have good horses as they bring good prices.

The Danish Lutheran minister, Rev. GREVENGAARD, comes to the Hamlin school house once a month and holds services for those of his people living in that vicinity.

Brayton column.
A number of Brayton people are planning on attending the carnival at Atlantic this week as a special [train] will run each evening, leaving Atlantic about 10 o'clock. (Submitter's note: Apparently for the return from Atlantic to Brayton.)

Oakfield-Brayton.
There was a dance last Friday night at the BENDIXEN hall by the Danish young folks. They filled the hall and each and every one of them enjoyed each moment that they were there.
(Submitter's note: This was a recurrent form of socialization, not only for the Danes but for the entire community. There are recurring reports about the Danes having their dances, and the wider community having its own dances. There is no mention that I recall that the two groups attended one another's dances, but I cannot imagine they did not. After all it was not the first generation of American born Danish-Americans who were trying to hold on to their Danish heritage; they wanted to assimilate with the larger society. It was their parents (the immigrant generation) who were trying to perpetuate their European heritage.)
