In this issue: Brayton is becoming the leading hog market of the county. We were told that out of the eleven businessmen in Brayton there are eight of them engaged in buying hogs. Some of the buyers claim their prices are within a few cents of the Chicago market. When a farmer drives down Main Street the prospective purchasers go out, climb on his wagon, look over the hogs, size up the owner and the competitors, and then follows some lively bidding, but the man who makes the first bid stands a poor show. A great many times a very little raise buys the hogs.
