Thursday August 18, 1881
Jesse Ellis an old resident of Appanoose county living in
Vermillion township, South of town, died Saturday the 13th after
a lingering sickness, aged 58. Mr. Ellis was a member of the
Masonic order and was buried with all honors Sunday, the funeral
services being conducted from the Baptist church of this city,
Elder Robbins preaching the funeral sermon.
