JUNCTION NEWS
-Mr. and Mrs. Will Meiller, Helen, Arlene and Leone were
Waukon callers Wednesday.
-Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Schave were visitors in the Ed. Dahms home
Thursday evening.
-Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Dahms spent Christmas with their parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Fred Schave, in Waukon.
-Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Meyer, Iris and Leah, and Mrs. Wilbur
Thornton were callers in Decorah Monday.
-John B. Wersinger of Dubuque spent Thursday and Friday at the
home of his sister, Mrs. Verni Engle, and family.
-Mr. and Mrs. "Shorty" Thornton have moved back into
their own home after keeping house in the Frank Hangartner home
during their visit in California.
BETHEL
-Freddie Thomson was an Elkader visitor Saturday.
-Mr. and Mrs. Frank Roffman were Waukon callers Wednesday.
-Mr. and Mrs. Jess Uhl were Christmas dinner guests in the home
of Mrs. Will Ewing in Postville.
-Mr. and Mrs. Earl Abernethy of Postville were callers at the Mr.
and Mrs. Arbe Behrens home Monday evening.
-LaVern and Lorraine Benson spent Christmas with their mother,
Mrs. Rose Benson, at the Fred Harrington home.
-Mr. and Mrs. Art C. Webster of Postville were visitors in the
Mr. and Mrs. Arbe Behrens home Wednesday afternoon.
-Mr. and Mrs. Martin Hurley autoed to Waucoma last Saturday and
spent Chrismas in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Smith.
-Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Ewing and family, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Ewing and
family, of Forest Mills, enjoyed Christmas dinner in the parental
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Segrist home.
-Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Lawon and daughter, Lois, and Mr. and Mrs.
Frank Lawson, of Grand Meadow, Will Lawson, Fred Lawson and Georg
Nuehring enjoyed Christmas dinner at the Mr. and Mrs. Cloy Lawson
home.
LUANA
-Mr. Henry Ziegler enjoyed Christmas dinner in the home
of his daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Halan Reinhardt.
-Mr. and Mrs. Efferd Lindroth of Guttenberg spent Christmas with
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lindroth, and with other
relatives.
-Mr. and Mrs. R.J. Brown, Mr. and Mrs. Darwin Brown and James
enjoyed Christmas dinner in the home of their son and brother,
Bill Brown, at Sixteen.
-Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Splies, Mr. and Mrs. Henry W. Schultz, Mrs.
Oliver Eno and Susan Chapman enjoyed Christmas turkey with Mr.
Bertha Splies.
-Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Englehardt and Lyledene enjoyed Christmas
dinner with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. F.C. Kamps, and with other
relatives at Dubuque.
-Wilbur Frye, who has been in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Colby
Jones at Fredericksburg, is spending the Christmas holidays with
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Will Frye.
-Mrs. Hazel Schrader and sons, Ralph, Bernard and Louis, of
Clermont, and Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Engelhardt and Lyledene were six
o'clock dinner guests Christmas of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Engelhardt.
-Mr. and Mrs. Don Lamborn and Lloyd, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Lamborn,
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ziegler and Mrs. Dora Ziegler with Mr. Louis
Jones, enjoyed Christmas with Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Clark, near the
Old Stone House.
George R. Engelhardt Passes
George R. Engelhardt passed away at the home of his
daughter, Mrs. Walter Garms, near Monona, on Tuesday morning
after an illness of about two years. He was 67 years of age. He
leaves to mourn his passing, three daughters, Mrs. Lance Candee
of Anamosa, Mrs. Walter Garms of Monona, and Mrs. Glen Meyer of
Postville, and three sons, Irvin and Maurey Engelhardt of Luana,
and Rev. Gerald Engelhardt of Atkin, Minn. Funeral services were
held Friday afternoon at the Lutheran church with Rev. P.W. Adix
officiating and burial was made in the Lutheran cemetery.
GRAND MEADOW
-Miss Julia Wettleson was a caller in the Lloyd Bigler
home Thursday afternoon.
-Kenneth Krambeer came Saturday from Waterloo to help make
Christmas merry at the John Krambeer home.
-Mr. and Mrs. Irving Deering, Charles and Robert, were Sunday
dinner guests in the parental Elmer Zieman home.
-Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Krambeer and family spent Christmas day in
the Earl Livingood home near Frankville.
-Mr. and Mrs. Arno Krambeer, Joyce and Rita Mae, were Christmas
dinner guests in the Mrs. Monroe Henkes home.
-Several from this vicinity attended the funeral of Mrs. Glenn
Meyer's father, George Engelhardt, at Luana Friday.
-Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Bigler and Lloyd Merlin enjoyed their
Christmas dinner with her mother, Mrs. Mary Schweikert, in
Postville.
FRANKVILLE
-Thos. Billman left for a week's visit at the home of
his sister, Mrs. Mary Schiff, and with other relatives in
Milwaukee.
-Mrs. Charles Walby will give a Christmas party for the primary
children in the community room Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 28.
-Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bulman of Waukon were calling on friends and
collecting for the Interstate Power Co. in this locality
Saturday.
-Mr. and Mrs. Dean Kneeskern, Cloy and Joanne were Christmas
dinner guests in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Will Schmidt of
Castalia.
-Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Miller of near Waukon spent Christmas eve
here and attended the program given at the Community church.
-Mr. and Mrs. Leo Kneeskern and baby, Michael, were Christmas
supper guests in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Vollman in Fort
Atkinson.
-Mrs. Jerome Bailey of Naper, Nebr., came Friday to spend the
Chrismas holidays with the Sherman Bollman family and Mrs. Rilla
and Callie Letchford.
-Mr. and Mrs. Fennimore Ambrose and Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Kneeskern
and Betty Jean were Christmas dinner guests of Mrs. Mabel Waters
and Mr. and Mrs. Vern Letchford.
-Mr. and Mrs. Ray Schara of near Postville attended the Christmas
eve program here Saturday evening and also visited in the home of
her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John VanWey.
-Rev. and Mrs. G.F. Butler, Keith and Jean are happy this
Christmas time to have as their yuletide guests Mrs. Butler's
mother, Mrs. W.J. Henderson; her sister, Lillian, and an aunt,
Mrs. Louise Henderson, all of Morning Sun. A cousin, Herbert
Wischmeier, of Burlington, is also a guest in the Butler home.
-Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Lenth, Elnathan, Jettie Mae and the baby
arrived on Christmas morning to spend the day with relatives,
joining Mrs. Lenth's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Pilgrim, at a
Christmas dinner given in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Ruen.
Mr. and Mrs. Lenth and the children returned to their home in
LaFarge Monday afternoon.
